School Profile

Aldergrove School is an elementary school serving a vibrant west-end community. Located at 8525 – 182nd Street, the school provides an academic program for students in kindergarten to grade 6, and also provides a Connections program for special needs students.  Aldergrove school staff, students, parents, and the community work in partnership to provide rich learning experiences within a safe and caring environment.

Aldergrove School is a place to belong, to contribute, and to grow. We provide a caring and respectful environment that seeks to nurture positive relationships.

We believe that learning is an individual process, and that by developing self-regulation, independence, and an excellent work ethic, children are prepared to take responsibility for their own learning, thereby setting the foundation for individuals to be able to work together.

We believe that learning is a social process, that by engaging in collaborative and respectful interactions with others, children learn together to achieve their potential.

We believe that learning is best done within an environment that is rich in text, a reflection of the rich diversity of language and literacy.

We believe that self-regulated independent learners, who are capable of interacting with others, are able to lead together.

This year we established a school-wide belief statement that reflects our staff's commitment to developing highly contributing and connected students.

Aldergrove's belief statement is "We believe in developing resilient students who demonstrate growth as learners and citizens in an inclusive manner, where they individually and collectively develop the skills to contribute back to society."

The learning environment of Aldergrove School benefits from citizenship expectations. It is often said that it takes a whole village to raise a child and, consequently, Aldergrove staff acknowledge and thank parents, guardians, and caregivers for their support in our quest to develop good citizens of our school and community.
